Hey, I am Richard Nagy from Germany and I think it is important not to forget why someone has started dancing. Some might like to move, some have been told that they are good at it. In my case, when I was little boy, I just simply loved to dance, showing the joy I was feeling to the audience. Over the years, this has evolved further.
As a dancer I don’t want to only present my technique, even though showing lines and use of space can be beautiful and interesting. This is simply not my cup of tea.
I’d like to evoke thoughts or emotions in the audience.
This can be a variety of things depending on the piece or idea I have. Sometimes I want to make you aware of certain topics in the world, make you feel awestricken or just simply make you start thinking about anything, which can come up your mind. And like a ripple, it can start new thoughts, which might not have been there beforehand. While I might not be sure yet, how I can achieve these things consistently, my goal is to work towards this and to aspire to become proficient at it..
This is a short movie Directed by Margo Onnes which has been installed in Tent Rotterdam during the International Filmfestival Rotterdam.
